Five of our pupils are celebrating county rugby success having been selected for Durham County Rugby.
George Kitson and Junior Newton were recently selected to play for the Durham County U15s squad, following in the footsteps of Mark Probets and Sam Dunkin who played for the U16s this season and Sol Kench who played for the U18 side.
Selection for Durham County was based on a trial and there is now every chance that the boys will go on to represent Durham until U18 level. There is also high hopes for them to be selected to play for the North, or even England further down the line.
Junior has also been invited to the Newcastle Falcons assessment sessions for the U15 intake, despite being only U14. He will attend alongside 119 other players from across the whole of Durham, Northumberland and Cumbria. However, only 35 will be successful. All of the players will be watched in the county developing player programme, as well as matchday invitations. The very best are invited for further trials at Kingston Park.
Dr Huw Williams, Headmaster said: “This is another example of our pupils achieving outstanding sporting success.
“To have five players involved at county level is fantastic. The excellent facilities at Yarm School and the dedication of our sports teachers gives them every opportunity to progress and play at a very high level in the future.
“At Yarm School, we’re committed to sporting excellence and in supporting our pupils to achieve their very best both academically and in their extra-curricular activities.”
We pride ourselves on the extra-curricular activities available here at Yarm School, offering 100+ activities and clubs to choose from each week, including a range of different sports. All of our pupils are given the opportunity to represent Yarm School on the sports pitch, with many gaining regional, country and national honours.
