Improving provision for Language and Communication and supporting children to make rapid progress in these strands is a key priority for many schools. We all recognise that the acquisition of spoken language and communication skills in early childhood builds strong foundations for reading, writing and mathematics in later life.
In this full day course, we use our latest audio and film exemplification to equip practitioners with detailed knowledge of the key milestones in early listening and attention, understanding, speaking and social communication.
Delegates will observe and practice new ways to communicate and model language alongside children’s play; and explore the idea of learning pathways to address specific language needs and challenge you to think differently about early intervention programmes – discovering how to ensure that all children are exposed to quality talk within high quality continuous provision.

The entitlement to outdoor provision is at the heart of effective practice in EYFS and through into KS1. There is a clear expectation that the outdoor environment is available and used well every day; whatever the time of year and whatever the weather.
With positive attitudes and thinking, this time of year can provide many unique and valuable learning opportunities. This practical session will provide lots of examples of real practice which highlight the benefits of children being outdoors in all seasons. Delegates will explore ways to make the most of the season, finding solutions for constraints and barriers, as well as inspirational ideas!

This course has been designed to support KS1 teachers and leaders who are looking to develop the principles of continuous provision and enhancements in their classrooms which enable children to make progress.
Research identifies that children benefit from a provision that allows them to revisit taught experiences and provides rich opportunities for exploration and challenge.
Delegates will have the opportunity to consider how a well-organised, carefully planned and challenging environment underpins effective learning and teaching and supports the demands of the KS1 curriculum. Inspiring case studies will be shared that demonstrate how schools have successfully transformed their classrooms and the powerful, sustained impact this has had on outcomes.
