The Yarm School Association (YSA), a volunteer group of parents who work in partnership with staff representatives to organise social activities within the School, have announced their funding for the 2020-2021 school year.
Over the years, the YSA has served to enrich and broaden the education delivered by the School by providing exciting facilities and equipment to a broad range of departments and programmes. They provide opportunities for parents, staff and pupils to enjoy a wide range of events which benefit the whole school community and in doing so, raise significant funds annually.
Events have included a Summer Ball held in the Princess Alexandra Auditorium, a Lounge Bar Evening in the Auditorium Bar, ceilidhs and the annual Christmas Markets which now attract over 100 stall holders, and much more.
The 2019 annual Christmas Indoor Market attracted 1,300 adult visitors and raised almost £8,500. The tombola stalls also raised an incredible £1134.52 for local charities: Zoe’s Place, Meserani Project, Clic Sargent and Footsteps.
The YSA also recently hosted an online Charity Quiz Night with a live raffle and auction and raised over £4,000 for local Stockton charity and food bank, Little Sprouts.
During the last couple of years, the YSA has bought an electronic sports scoreboard, fencing equipment, video equipment for the Games Department, a digital snake for the Music Recording Studio and a canoe trailer for rowing, the Outdoor Education Department and the DofE programme.Other items purchased for the School by the YSA include:
Despite not being able to host many of the fundraising events that were planned for 2020, including the popular Christmas Indoor Market, the YSA continue to support the School. Funding for 2020-2021 has been announced and the following projects will receive support:
The School is extremely grateful for the continued support from the YSA and appreciate the fact that this will continue into the next school year 2021-2022 with further funding available for other initiatives that will ultimately be of benefit to the pupils.
